Every year, we put the call out to the industry to create something special for GABS Beer, Cider & Food Fest. In 2018, 170 different brewers and cidermakers around Australia and New Zealand have answered that call and created something special just for you. For those brewers, it’s an opportunity to be creative, to push boundaries, and to showcase their talents. These beers and ciders are unique, one-off’s, limited release, and exclusive in every sense. DO. NOT. MISS. THEM.
Please note that there is a limited allocation of each Festival Beer & Cider for each session. Some session allocations may run out but the beer or cider will be back for the next session. The moral of the story is… if there’s something you absolutely want to try, try it first.
Festival Beers & Ciders are served from our three distinctive Container Bars. Lined with 60 taps on each side, they sure are a sight to see.
2 BROTHERS BREWERY (VIC) MOCHA GINGER BROWNIE 6.5% Porter
Inspired by the combination of lebkuchen (a German ginger cake) dark coffee and a dark beer, the team have melded these flavours together. A little spicy and very indulgent.
3 RAVENS (VIC) MOUSSEY JUICY 6% New England IPA
They say they took a 'textbook NE IPA' (there's an NE IPA text book?) and added chocolate, vanilla, lactose, pectin and roasted malt. Creamy dessert-like and plenty of hops. Doing things by their own book.
4 PINES BREWING CO (NSW) DUCHESS ROUGE 6% Flanders Red Ale
Part of 4 Pines’ Keller Door Barrel Aged program, this is the first beer from the foeders (large wooden barrels set on end) at Newport Public House in Sydney. Fermented with wild yeast from native peach, expect complex aromas of wood and cherry.
7 CENT BREWERY (VIC) QUIET B4 THE STORM 8.5% Belgian Quad
The storm is coming in this Belgian Quad with deep states of flavour in every drop. 7 Cent has aged this in ex-American Bourbon barrels with a blend of secret herbs and spices.
8 WIRED BREWING (NZ) STONE FREE 4.4%
When 8 Wired does fruited sours, it's always a good idea to pay attention. This Hendrix inspired Kettle Sour is fermented on apricots and has a lovely dose of Riwaka hops.
AETHER BREWING (QLD) SMOKED CHERRY DOUBLE CHOC BROWNIE STOUT 8% Sweet Stout
Cherries roasted over old Jack Daniels barrels, marshmallow, cocoa nibs, and new American Oak staves have been added to give this Stout an intense desert boost, with hints of smoke and vanilla laced bitterness.
AIBA CHAMPION BREWERS WE DO IT FOR THE PASSION... FRUIT 6% IPA (Specialty)
Australia's four champion breweries from the Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA); Stone & Wood, Balter, Green Beacon and Pact have joined forces to brew a tart passionfruit IPA. A one only time offer to enjoy this delicious brew.
AKASHA BREWING COMPANY (NSW) THE EAGLE IIIIPA 12% American IPA
Akasha is a brewery well known for its big, hoppy West Coast IPAs. This is its biggest yet and at 12% they are calling it a 'quadruple' IPA. Explosions of tropical fruit and citrus.
ALIBI BREWING COMPANY (NZ) IT'S A MAD MAD MAD MAD WORLD 6.2% American Stout
With a Stout base, Alibi added dark muscovado sugar, oranges, and a sugar orange reduction; before ageing it all in bourbon barrels. It's an Old Fashioned, in beer form.
ALL INN BREWING CO (QLD) DON'T BE BITTER BE SOUR 6.5% Specialty Beer
The team at All Inn have created a kettle soured lemon Lager with lemon myrtle. Expect a refreshing citrus sourness not usually found in Lager styles.
ALTITUDE BREWING (NZ) IK BEN GRUIT 'CHARDONNAY BARREL-AGED BELGIAN GRUIT' 7.5% Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer
Gruit is used to descibe beer flavoured with a spice and herb blend, rather than hops. For their version, Altitude has used juniper, lavender and cherrry bark. Floral nose, with a dry chardonnay-style finish.
AUSTRALIAN BEER CO (NSW) 3YR AGED BOURBON IMPERIAL STOUT 11.5% Russian Imperial Stout
This beer has been waiting patiently for three years. It was first brewed in 2015, before being aged in ex-bourbon barrels. Now this 11.5% Imperial Stout is ready for GABS. Are you ready for it?
AUSTRALIAN BREWERY (NSW) IT'S THE WAY IT SHATTERS THAT MATTERS 6% Brown Ale (UK-style)
A tribute to the Violet Crumble, the brewery has used honey, caramel and lactose. The underlying Brown Ale gives it a chocolate base, while the rest of the ingredients help recreate the Aussie classic.
AUSTRALIAN HOMEBREWER OF THE YEAR (WA) DEATH BY NO CHILL 5.6% Porter
Australia's best amateur brewer, Ben Tearne, has bought his award winning Chocolate Porter recipe. If you think you don't like dark beer, then this is the one that will change your mind.
B.EFFECT BREWING CO (NZ) DOUBLE DROP CENTRAL OTAGO IIPA 8.2% IPA (Specialty)
A clean malt base lets this double drop of NZ and German hops shine. A combination of wine and ale yeast means a lovely, unique, ferment to round it all out. Expect berry, citrus and tropical fruit flavours.
BAD SHEPHERD BREWING CO (VIC) CITRUS N CEDAR 6.5% American IPA
Mash hops, hop oil, whole cones, lupulin powder, fermentation hops, dry hops AND aged on Cedar. If you don't know what that means, just know it'll be crammed with flavour, bitterness and an extra hit of citrus from grapefruit and orange zest.
BADLANDS BREWERY (NSW) SCOTCHNESS MONSTER 6.6% Scotch Ale/Wee Heavy
Winner of Craftd Homebrew comp Nick Meumann is given the chance to let his recipe shine on a grand scale. It's a rich, malty and complex Scotch Ale, that's smooth as the undisturbed surface of Loch Ness.
BAROSSA VALLEY BREWING (SA) CHRISTMAS STOUT 10% Christmas/Winter Specialty Spiced Beer
Barossa tell us they are using their mum's fruit cake recipe for for this one, but what's in it is a well guarded secret. Expect a luscious, sweet beer with notes of whisky and fruity spice.
BARRABOOL HILLS BREWERY (VIC) COCKIES SUNTANNED VANILLA ALE 5.2% American Brown Ale
A hint of vanilla is added to a classic easy drinking Brown Ale. There's a slight sweetness, smooth bitterness and a gentle vanilla edge.
BATCH BREWING COMPANY (NSW) TEA AND SPACE COOKIES 7.5% Saison/Farmhouse Ale
Ever heard of cascara? It's the fruit that you find coffee beans in. The coffee byproduct has become a popular ingredient in beer and here Batch are combining it with hemp seeds. A unique combo of flavour in this Brown Ale.
BEER GARDEN BREWING (SA) ANGASI COFFIN BAY OYSTER STOUT 7.5% Foreign Extra Stout
While the popular Pacific Oysters are in global shortage (due to the Pacific Oyster Mortality Syndrome), the Coffin Bay Angasi Oyster has proved resilient, so the Beer Garden team give it a chance to shine in a flavourful Oyster Stout.
BEERFARM / ROCKY RIDGE BREWING CO (WA) RHUBARBARIAN 5% Kettle Sour
A beer on the darker side of sours; blood lime, dark and bitter chocolate and an extra sour hit from rhubarb wrenched screaming from the Beerfarm garden. Wrapped in a devilishly smooth nitro blanket.
BELLS BEACH BREWING (VIC) TEAHUPO'O TROPICAL GOSE 4.7% Gose
Teahupo'o is one of the cleanest and meanest surf breaks in the world (seriously, Youtube it, it's insane). Here the Bells team have honoured the break by using seawater, and tropical fruits to create a crisp, clean and refreshing Gose.
BENTSPOKE BREWING CO (ACT) HERE WE JOE AGAIN 5% Mixed-Fermentation Sour Beer
Last GABS, Bentspoke had 'Joe Carb' and it was funky. 'Baby Huey - Hard Times' funky. Somehow they've made it funkier, and aged it in Shiraz barrels. Expect weird, controversial, infamous funk levels on this.
BIG SHED BREWING CONCERN (SA) BOOZY FROOT 6% New England IPA
The 'sweet things on a stick as beer' legends, who bought you Golden Stout Time in 2015, are back with their beery NE IPA take on Frosty Fruits. It promises to be summer by the pint.
BLACK BREWING CO WA BAD BOY BAO BAO 10% Sweet Stout
The regular Bao Bao from Black is 4.5%. This is over double that and is badder, with additions of cinnamon and oats. Expect thick, boozy, and soft. Doesn't sound that bad...
BLACK HEART BREWERY (VIC) THE STARK HEART 7.8% Weizenbock
Strong, dark, wheat beer from a brewery who has been doing Euro styles since 2003. It takes a lot of experience to nail this style and we're in safe hands here (literally, the brewer is also a heart surgeon).
BLACK HOPS BREWING (QLD) GETTING TROLLEY'D IN TIJUANA 6.5% Saison/Farmhouse Ale
A late night spice run to Tijuana has resulted in a cinnamon, orange peel and star anise spiced Saison. For a local twist, it's been aged in South Australian Grenache barrels.
BLACKMAN'S BREWERY (VIC) ESCARGOSE 4.8% Gose
Perhaps one of the most unusual beers to grace GABS, the team at Blackman’s Brewery in Torquay have crafted a dry-hopped Gose style beer with Great Ocean Road snails, parsley, thyme and pine nuts. Will you ‘Gose’ there?
BONEHEAD BREWING (VIC) GRAMPS BSIPA 7% Belgian Dubbel
Bonehead combined a few beers from their range into this hybrid monster. There are prickly pears, pomegranate and plenty of hops added late in the piece. New England IPA-meets-Belgian Blonde-meets-Sicilian market garden. Sounds pretty fun to us.
BOOTLEG BREWERY (WA) BEAN THERE HOP THAT 6% Black IPA
A lovely citrus and roast profile has been barrel aged in Leeuwin Estate red wine barrels and dosed with cold brew coffee from That Cold Stuff. A curious combination with layers and depth.
BREWICOLO BREWING CO (VIC) PIQI BRIGHT LAGER 4.6% American Lager
The Fiji tropical sun inspired this hibiscus and honey infused lager. Named after the Fijian word for pink, expect pink hues, a floral aroma, with a crisp finish and a little hint of honey at the end.
BREWMANITY BEER CO (VIC) RUMAZIN' TRIPEL TREAT 8% Belgian Tripel
A triple treat of decadence in this boozy Belgian style. Rum, raisin, and the traditional strong tripel-styled beer. Expect warm richness and plump raisin sweetness all underpinned by distinct spicy yeast.
BRIDGE ROAD BREWERS (VIC) RACER 'RED BULL IPA' 6% American IPA
This IPA has been made with an addition of half a pallet of imported Thai Red Bull (you know, the good stuff with the gold label). Good luck getting to sleep after this one.
BRIGHT BREWERY (VIC) BAM-BA-LAM 7% Saison/Farmhouse Ale
In this unique take on a classic farmhouse-style ale, they've made a black version of the typically light Saison, and dosed it with a hit of locally sourced lavender.
BRISBANE BREWING CO (QLD) PINE-TINGLER 7.5% Soured Fruit Beer
When life gives you pineapples, make beer. A soured ale, with toffee and caramel malt flavours, it has been infused with fresh pressed pineapple juice then aged in rum barrels.
BROTHERS BEER (NZ) LAKSA ALE 4.7% Experimental Beer
This is an homage to the classic Asian laksa. Rich, full bodied ale with flavours of fresh coconut, lemongrass, lime, ginger and coriander.
BRUNY ISLAND BEER CO (TAS) BLACKBERRY & OATMEAL STOUT 7% Fruit Beer
With blackberry from Westerway (Tasmania) and oats sourced from a nearby farm, this is inspired by seasonal produce. It's a rich Stout with a lovely smooth underlying berry character.
BUCKET BOYS CRAFT BEER CO (NSW) WUBBA LUBBA DUB DUB 7.5% Kettle Sour
The team have soured their New England style IPA and dosed it with a secret ingredient to create a green, sour hazy beer.
BURLEIGH BREWING CO (QLD) CHOCOLATE EASTER PORTER 5.5% Porter
At its core, its a beautiful Porter, with Fijian sourced cocoa nibs, and lactose sugar, creating what the brewery describes as 'Easter for grown ups'.
BURNLEY BREWING (VIC) ICE IS BACK WITH A BRAND NEW INVENTION 5.8% New England IPA
Alright stop. Collaborate and listen. This vanilla ice cream New England IPA is juicy and creamy. Made with Piccolina Gelateria ice cream, and served with a slushy head.
CAPITAL BREWING CO (ACT) THE DARRYL STRAWBERRY 5% American Wheat
Bartender Ryan makes a ripper of a strawberry, rosemary and vodka cocktail. He wondered if it would work as beer. Find out for yourself in this wheat beer crammed full of strawberry and local rosemary.
CHAOTIC HOP BREWING (NZ) DRIPA 7.3% Red IPA
With 100% Kiwi ingredients, this is a big beer. Big juicy red malts, big hoppy flavours and big bitterness. Balanced, with a hint of spice.
CHEEKY MONKEY BREWERY AND CIDERY (WA) RI-BEER-NA 3% Berliner Weisse
This kettle-soured Berliner has blackcurrants added throughout the brewing and fermenting process. We can't say for sure if they added a dose of vitamin C, but we can say it's a dose of delicious.
CHUR BREWING CO (NZ) HOPPED UP ON JUICE 6.2% New England IPA
Chur has been making some of the juicieist IPAs in the game lately. Here they've added grapefruit and orange zest to a juicy US and NZ hopped New England IPA.
THE COASTAL BREWING COMPANY (NSW) DOUBLE TREACHERY 9% Double IPA
Coastal Brewing Co's Treachery XPA became a cult favourite amongst their fans when it was released in 2017. So for GABS, they figured they'd give you double what you love: Double hops, double malt, double ABV.
COCONSPIRATORS BREWING COMPANY (VIC) THE BELGIAN BREAKFAST 9% Belgian Quad
With a whiff of waffle and a flash of figs, this dark, complex malt-driven number makes for the perfect breakfast beer.
COLONIAL BREWING CO (VIC) VIOLENT RUMBLE 8% American Amber Ale
Bertie Beetles, a Violet Crumble byproduct, were first made in the building that houses Colonial's Melbourne brewery. In honour, they've added them right into the beer, with chocolate, honey and rum. Get ready to rumble.
THE CRAFT & CO (VIC) JUNIIPA 9% Double IPA
Forget G & T. This is a G & B. As one of Australia’s only brewer distillers, Craft & Co have combined both to create a Double IPA brewed with resinous hops, gin botanicals, and a dash of Collingwood Dry Gin.
DAINTON BREWERY (VIC) SKITTLEBRAU 7% New England IPA
Life can be ‘all beer and skittles’ when it comes to GABS. This combines sweet juiciness of a New England IPA, with actual Skittles and a big whack of cherries. Drink the rainbow!
DEEDS BREWING (VIC) QUIET DEEDS BLURRED VINES 8.5% New England IPA
Yeah ok, there are a few New England IPAs in this list, but this is the only one with Sav Blanc juice added mid-fermentation. Low bitterness, white wine flavours, and a creamy soft finish. We know you want it.
DEEP CREEK BREWING CO (NZ) STEAM FUNK ‘STONEFRUIT BERLINER’ 4.5% Berliner Weisse
A Berliner Weisse that's full of Kiwi summer fruit - nectarines, peaches and apricots. Expect layers of sweet fruit and a lovely tart finish.
DEVILS BREWERY (TAS) COROLLA 5% New World Pilsener
With influence from that famous Mexican lager (you know the one), Devils Brewery has made an easy drinking pale lager and dosed it with local Tassie hops and a bunch of lemon zest.
EAGLE BAY BREWING COMPANY (WA) SATSUMA SAISON 6% Saison/Farmhouse Ale
In the tradition of classic Saison ('season' in French) brewing, this farmhouse style ale is made with locally picked Satsuma plums, local pecans and honey. Seasonal brewing at its best.
EDEN BREWERY (NSW) PISTACHIO CREAM 6.3% Cream Ale
Pistachios and beer is an amazing combination, and it would be better if weren't for all those darn shells. Fortunately there is a better way. Put them in the beer!
EDGE BREWING PROJECT (VIC) DESERT LIME JUICE BOX 4.2% Soured Fruit Beer
A clean, crisp and fruity sour beer with a bone dry body and citrus edge. Brewed with fresh apple, pear, pineapple, orange and blackcurrants, and finished with native desert lime.
EPIC BREWING COMPANY (NZ) BEER BLANKET 6% Foreign Extra Stout
You know that warm and fuzzy feeling you get after a few beers, especially when it’s cold outside, and you didn’t bring a jacket? Like you’re invincible to the cold. Beware the false warmth of the ‘beer blanket’. Stay inside and enjoy responsibly.
FERAL BREWING COMPANY (WA) SHOOTER MCGAVIN'S BREAKFAST IPA 7% New England IPA
With Weet-Bix, Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops, All Bran, Nutri-Grain, and Cornflakes, this is a true breakfast juice. It smells like tropical fruit, looks like orange juice, tastes like sweet cereal, and is sure to get your day started just right.
FOGHORN BREWHOUSE (NSW) GIN STREET 8% Saison/Farmhouse Ale
The working class French Saison, designed for farmhouse refreshment, has been combined here with the botanicals of new world Aussie gin. It's zesty, refreshing, and has a dry finish.
FOREIGNER BREWING COMPANY (VIC) DURIAN DURIAN 4.2% Saison/Farmhouse Ale
Durian - a fruit so controversial it's banned in some hotels and by public transport providers in southeast Asia. Foreigner believe it's a bit misunderstood and here it adds a tropical fruit character to funky Saison.
FORREST BREWING COMPANY (VIC) TOO MUCH FUNK & ATTITUDE 6.5% Experimental Beer
Among the hinterland alongside the Great Ocean Road, the Forrest team went foraging for their Festival Beer ingredients. Think wild hops, nettles, blackberries and pepperberry.
FOX HAT BREWING (SA) STRAWBERRIES & CREAM 7% American Wheat
Fresh Adelaide Hills strawberries added throughout the brewing process showcase both the colour and gentle sweetness of the fruit. This is served under nitrogen too, so it'll be delightfully creamy, pink, and a ton of fun.
FRENCHIES BISTRO & BREWERY (NSW) EUSKADI BIERE DE GARDE 9.5% Bière de Garde
Espelette is a delicate and fragrant spice that the Frenchie's head chef loves, so they've used it in this traditional French Bière de Garde style. It's then aged in Cognac barrels. Expect oaky vanilla, spice and a toasty malt flavour.
FUNK ESTATE (NZ) TANG TOWN: TURBO SHANDY 5.9% Kettle Sour
Funk Estate describe this as a 'turbo version of classic shandy in sour beer form'. The beer has been kettle soured and crammed with lemon. It's a shandy but bigger, more tart and lemony AF.
FURY & SON BREWING COMPANY (VIC) LOUKOUMADES LAGER 4.8% Experimental Beer
Laced with cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg and honey, this Greek-inspired treat is the perfect nightcap after a late night gyros!
GARAGE PROJECT (NZ) OMG THAT'S THE FUNKY SHIT! 7.5% New England IPA
Super hoppy and hazy IPA with Nelson and Galaxy hops, and a big old dose of blood orange, mango and grapefruit. OMG! Ah, we see what they did there.
GOOSE ISLAND (TAS) REDLINE IPA 5.6% Red IPA
Perfect for cooler GABS nights, Goose Island's Red IPA provides all the hoppiness of an IPA but with an extra depth of flavour from crystal malts. Expect light toffee notes in this winter warmer.
GRAND RIDGE BREWERY (VIC) LAGER-ITA 6.4% Specialty Beer
To celebrate the brewery converting to solar power, Grand Ridge released its Solar Aussie Lager. For GABS, they've given it a Margarita treatment with aged Tequila, lime zest and citrus.
GREEN BEACON BREWING CO (QLD) PARFAIT IPA WITH PASSION FRUIT & GUAVA 7% IPA (Specialty)
With vanilla and lactose, this is inspired by Parfait desserts. The guava and passionfruit accent the hops, and the result is a creamy, sweet, delicious IPA.
HALLERTAU BREWERY (NZ) ACID HAUS 5% Dry Hopped Sour
The brewery describes this as having a 'potent pink grapefruit and lime rind' aroma. It's kettle soured, and is packed full of fruit and citrus flavours. Thirst quenchingly tart.
HAWKERS BEER (VIC) / WHEATY BREWING CORPS (SA) / LIBERTY BREWING CO (NZ) FRAMBOISE A TROIS 6.5% Soured Fruit Beer
A trans-Tasman collaboration between three of Australia and New Zealand’s most loved breweries has produced this delicious sour raspberry IPA, with a touch of lactose for a bit of je ne sais quoi.
HEYDAY BEER CO (NZ) SARONNO STOUT 7% Sweet Stout
With a Sweet Stout base, Heyday have incorporated the flavours of Amaretto which is a sweet Italian liqueur made from apricot pits and almonds. A gorgeous take on two classic drinks.
HOLGATE BREWHOUSE (VIC) NELSON'S VICTORY 7.5% Specialty Beer
Brewed to give courage and inspire a victorious outcome to all those overwhelmed by choice. It's also infused with rum soaked oak from the Lark Distillery. Rum AND inspiration? What more do you need?
HOP NATION (VIC) BRETT GOLD 6% Mixed-Fermentation Sour Beer
Hop Nation’s winemaking background comes to the fore here with this kettle soured Blonde Ale that has been fermented and aged on French oak for five months.
HOPDOG BEERWORKS (NSW) CLOCKWORK GOLEM 5% Specialty Beer
HopDog tell us this is sour, tart, horsey, wild, and funky. It's a kettle sour, brett fermented Golden Ale, with a bit of citrus added and plenty of hop aroma. Sounds intense, if we're honest.
HOPE BREWHOUSE (NSW) SUPER WET 7.5% New England IPA
Super Juicy is Hope's take on New England IPA and for GABS they've made it wet... by adding wet (unprocessed hops available only in season) hops. Plus a bit of rye for spice and body.
ILLAWARRA BREWING COMPANY (NSW) INTERPLANETARY NEIPA SOUR 6% Kettle Sour
Combining kettle sour techniques, and hop hash (a potent hop production byproduct), this will be juicy, tart and gently sour.
INDIAN OCEAN BREWING CO (WA) BIÈRE DE MINDARIE 8.5% Saison/Farmhouse Ale
Kettle souring, combined with funky yeast and a bit of blending gives this a classic Belgian yeast character, a touch of tartness, and a sparkling dry finish.

KAIJU! BEER (VIC) SPACIUM RAY 7% American IPA
Those crazy KAIJU! kids are calling this one an 'India Ultra Pale Ale'. Ultra clean, ultra hoppy, ultra good. Probably ultra pale too. Pretty ultra.
KERERU BREWING COMPANY (NZ) HOLY COW! 6.5% Specialty Beer
A malty ale that has been infused with dates and pomegranate. It was inspired by an ancient Egyptian beer recipe and Hathor, goddess of cows, love, hospitality and (of course), beer.
LAST RITES BREWING COMPANY (TAS) CHOMP STOUT 6.6% Sweet Stout
Let them take you back to your childhood memories of chomping on a Chomp bar. The Last Rites team love 'em, so they've stuck them in a beer. Just normal GABS things.
LAUGHING BONES BREWING CO (NZ) PEPPERTREE SAISON 5.5% Saison/Farmhouse Ale
Foraged horopito and kawakawa, two NZ herbs from the peppertree family, and a dash of naturtium leaf make this is a herbacious nod to classic farmhouse beers. Spicy, dry, and bright.
THE LIBATION ARMY BREWING OPERATIONS (SA) FEVER PEACH 6.3% Irish-style Dry Stout
Persi Pien (translation: filled peach) is an Italian dessert from Piedmont, Italy, where the brewer hails from. This is a beer take on that. Roasted malt base, peaches, Kiwi hops and a dash of Amaretto.
LITTLE ALCHEMIST BREWING CO (NSW) PURPLE HAZE 8% IPA (Specialty)
Butterfly pea flowers are a fascinating ingredient. The blue flowers give all sorts of colour to a liquid, depending on the acidity. A big, hoppy, IPA that just happens to be purple.
LITTLE BANG BREWING CO (SA) SASQUOCTOPUS 20.2% Specialty Beer
When you take one of the country's most loved Barleywines, Galactopus, and freeze distill it, what do you get? Something called Sasquoctopus apparently. 20.2%, smooth, fruity and rich.
LITTLE CREATURES (VIC) DAWN TIL D’HUSK 7% Schwarzbier
This big, dark number has been brewed in collaboration with Perth chocolatier Sue Lewis. It uses cocoa husks (a byproduct of chocolate production), to marry complex chocolate aromas with the cleansing nature of a Lager.

Jerky and beer: a great combo side by side. However, this is GABS and that ain't what its about. The brewery teamed with Big Wig Jerky and added jerky right at the end of the boil of a malty English Brown Ale.
SHAMBLES BREWERY (TAS) STRUMPET 6% Dry Hopped Sour
This is a kettle soured beer they have hopped like an IPA. For this beer, Shambles wants to balance flavours of hops with the refreshing tartness of a kettle soured beer.
SHARK ISLAND (NSW) SILLY BILLY LILLI PILLI SPICED SAISON 6% Saison/Farmhouse Ale
Shark Island has used backyard fruit in both previous GABS beers. First go, they used choko fruit, second, mulberry. Here? Lilli pilli berries and ginger have been added to a spritzy Saison.

Worth waking up to, this cool fermented ale features smoky spice and a rounded long finish. It's an easy-drinker suitable for imbibing with (or instead of) breakfast, with rolled oats, maple syrup and the spiced berry notes of Bramling Cross hops to create the breakfast of champions.
SHENANIGANS BREWING (NSW) PIÑA PICANTE 6% Gose
It might sound weird on paper - this Mexican inspired habanero Gose - but it probably makes a ton of sense in the glass. Sweet pineapple, salt, and a lick of chilli. Like tacos al pastor without the pork.

No strangers to barrel-ageing beers for GABS, Sierra Nevada have pulled out all the stops again with this bright, peppery Belgian-style Tripel infused with delicate botanicals from gin barrels. Golden, lively, and with wisps of peach and pear, this beer is delightfully complex and devilishly drinkable.

Close your eyes, shut out the chatter, quiet the roving brass band, and imagine a liquified mint slice. Tastes pretty good huh? Ok, back to reality. Here the brewery has used cacao nibs and mint leaves on a chocolate Stout base.

Witbier meets IPA. Belgium meets American. It's a blend of big bold US hops, and the lively spice of Belgian yeast. Expect tropical fruits and bubblegum aroma.

These Tassie based brewers have combined the fragrant yeast of Belgium, with the boldness of American hops, and finished it all off with some Japanese Yuzu. It's a spicy, hoppy and tart cross-continent experience.

You're going to find layers of fruit flavour in this, from bubblegum, to tropical fruit, and hints of pear and watermelon.

Fermented with freshly pressed Pinot Noir grapes from their neighbours at Mac Forbes Wines, this Pale Ale from Watts River is satisfyingly dry, gorgeously pink and deliciously showcases the Yarra Valley.
WAYWARD BREWING COMPANY (NSW) TENNESSEE TONIC 6.5% Wood-Aged Beer Wayward made sure to research whisky sours in depth before attempting this one. They've made a strong kettle soured beer, added ginger and apple, then aged it in Jack Daniel's barrels. Oaky, lovely, with a strong vanilla hit.
WELDER'S DOG BREWING (NSW) PRICKLY PEAR SOUR GINGER BEER 4.1% Specialty Beer
Put this one high up on your list because no one else is making mixed culture, traditional, alcoholic ginger beer commercially anywhere in the world. It sounds fun, and has prickly pears. What more do you need from GABS?
WESTSIDE ALE WORKS (VIC) ¡VIVA! MARGOSERITA 4.5% Gose
Packed with pink Himalayan salt, sweet orange peel, coriander seed, as well as a Tequila, oak and lime zest infusion, this Margoserita will have you dancing in no time.
WHITE BRICK BREWING (QLD) MOUNTIE MAULIN BROWN 6.2% Brown IPA
Inspired by long days hiking in mountains, this is a roasty Brown Ale with a whack of aroma hops. To finish it off, they used Canadian maple syrup for a complex and unique finish.
WHITE LIES BREWING COMPANY (QLD) CHOC STAR 4.2% Gose
The sour and salty style, known as Gose, has been given a chocolate and orange treatment. The brewers say they only used ingredients found in the 'seven circles of hell'. We'll have to take their word for it.
WHITE RABBIT (VIC) YUZU SANSHO 8.5% Belgian Tripel
Marrying a Belgian style with Japanese culture, this beer is brewed with toasted sesame seeds, Sansho peppers, Yuzu peel and served on nitro for a creamy mouthfeel.
WIGNALL BREWING (ACT) ROGAN JOSH 6.5% Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer
Curry in a glass. If that sounds like something you want, then this dark Porter was brewed with Rogan Josh masala mix from a local Indian grocer. Expect a wonderful curry aroma and delicate chilli heat.
WILLIE THE BOATMAN (NSW) MISO THIRSTY 5% Gose
The Japanese influence continues with Marrickville brewers, Willie The Boatman, carrying their love of miso soup over to this Gose-style beer. The sour base beer has been infused with miso paste and seaweed.
WOLF OF THE WILLOWS (VIC) TOM COLLINS SOUR 5.7% Kettle Sour
A double-Wolf collab that sees Wolf of the Willows joining forces with distillers, Patient Wolf. They've combined a tropical fruit driven sour beer with classic gin ingredients. An ode to the Tom Collins.
YAK ALES (VIC) STICKY YAK 4.7% Specialty Beer
As sure as yaks love honey (this is a thing, right), this beer will have you coming back for more. Expect a subtle but distinctive honey aroma and flavour, carried by a light malty palate and soft bitterness.
YOUNG HENRYS (NSW) DUBBEL SKULL 6% Belgian Dubbel
Young Henry's has used the classic Belgian Dubbel style as a base to help showcase coffee aroma. There will be flavours of raisin, dark fruit, brown sugar, with an underlying coffee hit.
YULLI'S BREWS (NSW) ‘ELTHAM' BOURBON BARREL AGED MAPLE PECAN BROWN ALE 7.5% Brown Ale (UK-style)
In collaboration with Eltham Pantry in Byron Bay, Yulli's have added maple coated pecans at several stages of the brewing process, then aged the beer in ex-Bourbon barrels. Well, we're excited.
BATLOW CIDER CO (NSW) HOPPED 'RIPE-BENA' SAISON CIDER 8% Specialty Cider
Batlow apples combined with blackcurrant and fermented with French saison yeast. Post-ferment additions of Galaxy and Citra Hops give it all a spicy citrus boost.
CHEEKY GROG CO (VIC) CHEEKY PERRY 4.5% Specialty Perry
A medium sweet heritage perry cider that has a straw colour and a floral nose. Fermented in oak, expect a pear aroma with hints of quince. A multilayered palate with fruitiness followed by a balanced tannic finish.

All about classic cider apples up in here. Dabinett, Kingston Black, Yarlington Mill and Somerset Red Streak. This is classic cider done right.

Who doesn’t like a good mojito? The team have infused crisp apple cider with crushed mint and lime juice. It was then aged in rum barrels for that classic mojito mix.

Barrel fermented cider complemented by Mead and honey from local Yarra Valley hives. This is all about the deft balance of sweet honey and oaky cider.
