SESSION 1

1:45pm Q & ALES: BARRELS & OAK
Whether it's ex-wine or old whisky barrels, breweries are using oak as an ingredient unto its own. Find out about some of the best barrel aged beers at GABS. With Brendan Chan (Brisbane Brewing Co), Andy Mitchell (Australian Beer Co), Craig Westwood (Mountain Goat Beer), Paul Holgate (Holgate Brewhouse).

2:45pm Q & ALES: NEVER SAY NEIPA
What's the big deal with hazy, juicy, New England IPAs? We quiz some of the leading proponents (and opponents) of the style on where the juice mania began, and whether the craze will last. Lagunitas is one of the pioneers when it comes to big, West Coast style American IPAs. They make some of the best in the game. If you love hoppy American styles, then don't miss this in-depth conversation with Lagunitas founder Tony Magee.

9:45pm Q & ALES: SOUR BEER, HAPPY FACES
If you don't love sour beer then can you even say you love beer? Come along and find out what makes your beer sour, and all the fun flavours you'll find. With Garrett Sherman (4 Pines Brewing Co), Josh Thomas (Beerfarm), Jono Moscrop (Bells Beach Brewing Co), Duncan Gibson (Hop Nation), Richard Watkins (BentSpoke Brewing Co).

12:45pm Q & ALES: HOPS UP TO HERE
Let's talk about hops. Aren't they wonderful? From aroma to bitterness, they drive beer from start to finish. And some brewers just can't get enough. Come find out why. 1:45pm KEYNOTE: THE OLDEST BEER IN THE WORLD... MADE NEW
A beer over two centuries in the making. Using a 220 year old yeast found in a shipwreck off the coast of Tasmania, James Squire, the Queen Victoria Museum & Art Gallery & the Australian Wine Research Institute have revived a beer from yesteryear crafting it into a modern day brew. Hear from the team behind this incredible project. With Haydon Morgan (James Squire), David Thurrowgood (Queen Victoria Museum & Art Gallery) and Dr Anthony Borneman (Australian Wine Research Institute).

2:45pm Q & ALES: CIDER FRIENDS
Right now, cider in Australia and NZ is amongst the best in the world and we are lucky enough to have some of the leaders here at GABS. Let's celebrate the humble apple. With Ben Gayfer (Napoleone), Nyall Condon (Flying Brick Cider Co), Jennifer Morey (Cheeky Grog Co), Adam D’Arcy (Willie Smith's Cider).

7:45pm Q & ALES: LAGER AIN'T A DIRTY WORD
Everyone is stoked on lager in 2018 and with good reason. It's not just the domain of big names with big marketing, but it's a world of flavour, history and nuance that is making a comeback. With Brenton Aylward (Fury & Son), Peter Denison (Foreigner Brewing), Kevin Hingston (Pact Beer Co), Caolan Vaughn (Stone & Wood).

8:45pm KEYNOTE: FROM BRIGHT TO BRICK LANE AND THE BEERS IN BETWEEN
With a passion for brewing quality beer, Jon Seltin is about to take on his most ambitious project yet with Brick Lane Brewing Co. Join us as Jon reflects on his journey from Bright Brewery to Hawkers to Brick Lane, along with tasters of his favourite beers along the way.

9:45pm Q & ALES: DARK AND DELICIOUS
There are few pleasures more decadent than a rich, dark beer that packs flavours like chocolate, caramel, coffee and more. GABS is lucky to showcase some of the most innovative and tastiest and share them with you. With Ben Lee (2 Brothers Brewery), Matthew Cuthbert (Revel Brewing Co), Sam Whitney (Heyday Beer Co), Brendan Guild (The Public Brewery), Michael O'Rance (Goose Island).

SESSION 5

12:45pm Q & ALES: YOUR BEER - FEATURING SNAILS AND CRICKETS
GABS is the chance to put something weird into a beer. This year there is weetbix, snails, crickets and more. We ask the brewers to explain themselves in what promises to be the funniest chat about beer all festival. With Lee Stone (Shifty Lizard Brewing), Renn Blackman (Blackman's Brewery), Darren Blackhurst (Wignall Brewing), Mazen Hajjar (Hawkers Beer), Will Irving (Feral Brewing Co).
